Description

White Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with later additions from the 18th century and early 20th century at the rear. It features plastered rubble and cob walls and a gable-ended thatch roof, with a rubble stack and brick shaft at each gable end. The layout has likely been altered; it was probably originally two cottages but now consists of three rooms, with the central room being unheated. There is an unheated 18th-century wing behind the right-hand end and an early 20th-century outshut adjoining it. The exterior is two storeys high, with an asymmetrical front that has four windows, including one and two-light casements from the 20th century. There is a 20th-century lean-to porch to the left of centre and another at the right-hand end, both featuring part-glazed doors. The interior has been modernised in the early 20th century and does not show early features, although the original fireplaces may still be concealed.
