Description

ZENNOR SW 43 NW 3/235 Piggery and swill kitchen - immediately north of Higher Porthmeor Farmhouse GV II Piggery, swill kitchen or wash house and adjoining farmyard wall. Probably C18. Granite rubble with granite dressings. Grouted scantle slate roof. Dressed granite chimney over left-hand (north-east) gable end. Plan: long shallow-depth range built in 2 phases: at left a swill kitchen with doorway at rear and small window at front and single pigs' house with low pigs' doorway at front and doorway for man at rear; at right a slightly deeper plan 3-cell building with small windows at the front and doorways at the rear. The far right pigs' house has curved front wall following the bend of the road and is roofed with granite slabs. The pigs' doorway is at far right adjoining the gable end of Higher Porthmeor Old Farmhouse qv. Interior: not inspected. Part of an unspoiled coastal hamlet set in the ancient field system of this part of Cornwall.
