Description
The building is a piggery and swill kitchen, located immediately north of Higher Porthmeor Farmhouse, and is likely from the 18th century. It is constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings and features a grouted scantle slate roof. A dressed granite chimney is positioned over the left-hand (northeast) gable end. The structure consists of a long, shallow-depth range built in two phases. On the left side is a swill kitchen that has a doorway at the rear and a small window at the front, along with a single pigs' house that includes a low pigs' doorway at the front and a doorway for a person at the rear. The right side is a slightly deeper three-cell building with small windows at the front and doorways at the rear. The far-right pigs' house has a curved front wall that follows the bend of the road and is roofed with granite slabs. The pigs' doorway is located at the far right, next to the gable end of Higher Porthmeor Old Farmhouse. The interior has not been inspected. This building is part of an unspoiled coastal hamlet set within the ancient field system of this area in Cornwall.
