Description
The aqueduct and stiles, dating from the early 19th century, are constructed from dressed granite moorstone and granite rubble. The structure features a long rectangular track with high side walls, a central leat, and a gateway with a stile at each end. At the lower (eastern) end, water was originally discharged into the leat that supplied power for the nearby smelting works. Near the lower stile, there is an additional gateway leading into a field, which also has a stile beside it; this is included in the listing. The stiles are designed as stepped stiles, and the gate piers are made of granite monoliths.
