Description

The stile and gate piers located southwest of Lower Boscadjack Farmhouse are made of granite rubble and dressed granite monoliths, dating from around the mid-19th century. The structure features a semi-circular stile on the left (north) side of a gateway, which is flanked by two roughly-tooled square granite gate piers. The outside wall of the stile is formed by a stone rubble and earth bank, commonly referred to locally as a hedge. The granite stile stone winders radiate from the left-hand post, with the highest stone aligned with the gateway. An old braced wooden gate is present, featuring splat bars with ball finials, and the bottom bars are spaced closer together. This stile is a complete example of an unusual type and is associated with an unspoiled farmhouse and an attractive range of 19th-century farm buildings.
