Description

5/252 Stile and gate piers south west of - Lower Boscadjack Farmhouse

GV II

Stile and gate piers. Granite rubble and dressed garnite monoliths. Circa mid C19. Plan: semi-circular-on-plan stile,at the left hand (north) side of a gateway flanked by 2 roughly-tooled square-on-plan granite gate piers. The outside wall of the stile is a stone rubble and earth bank (locally known as a hedge) and the granite stile stone winders radiate from the left hand post, the highest stone in line with the gateway. Old braced wooden gate has splat bars with ball finials, the bottom bars closer spaced. A complete example of this unusual stile type and relating to an unspoiled farmhouse and attractive range of C19 farm buildings.
