Description
This is a stile located approximately 30 meters west of Pengelly Barton Farmhouse, likely built in the 18th century. It features dressed granite stile stones, ashlar gate piers, and rubble side walls topped with granite ridge copings. The design consists of a long narrow corridor with high side walls and a stile at each end. The main stile includes a cattle grid flanked by square piers, while the other end has a stile with open steps. Each pier is topped with a freestone urn-like finial that has four scrolled lugs adorned with acanthus decoration, and one of the urns retains a domed lid. This stile is similar to those found at Godolphin Hall and there are other simpler examples at the entrances to nearby farmhouses.
