Description
The village pump housing, dating from around the mid-19th century, is constructed of random rubble with granite dressings. Although the former iron pump is no longer present, the structure features a high wall that creates a leat, allowing water to be pumped from a sump. On the upstream side of the wall, which faces north, there is a spout and a bucket niche, along with another niche higher up where the pump used to be installed. The side bank of the leat is lined with granite moorstone copings that serve as a path, and a wide slab lintel bridges the leat next to the wall. This arrangement for collecting water is quite unusual and remains largely intact, aside from the missing ironwork.
