Description
Nos. 2-6 on Godstone Road is a house that has been divided and is now partly used as an office. It dates back to the 15th century, with extensions from the 16th century and additions from the 19th century. The building features a timber frame that is clad in red and blue brick at the bottom, with the right side whitewashed, and tile hanging above. It has a plain tiled half-hipped roof with end gablets. There is a ridge stack to the right of the center and a rendered end stack to the left. The structure is L-shaped, with a gable front cross wing on the right side. It has two storeys, with two casement windows on the first floor to the left, and one on the front right. On the ground floor, there is a horizontal sliding sash window to the left of center. The left end features a part leaded, glazed, plank door (No. 6 Ivy Cottage), while a further panelled door with the top two panels glazed (No. 4) is located to the left of center. The office front on the ground floor right (No. 2) has plate glass windows flanking a central panelled door under a leaded transom light. The right-hand return front is made of rubblestone on a brick and stone plinth, with brick quoining. Inside, the framing is visible, particularly on the ceilings.
