Description
No. 75 High Street is a house with a shop front below, originally built in the 16th century and refaced and extended in 1884. The building has a timber-framed core at the rear, with a brick front below and applied timbering above, featuring fishscale tile hanging in the gables. It has plain tiled roofs and a stack on the left side. The structure is two storeys high, with the first floor jettied on brackets. There are two gabled bays facing the street, each adorned with billeted and moulded bargeboards. The first floor has two wooden mullioned and transomed leaded casement windows, while the ground floor features two plate glass shop windows with plate glass doors on either side of the centre. At the rear, some timber framing is visible, along with a single-storey wing to the left. Inside, some framing can be seen, although it has been disguised and restored. This building is included for its group value only.
