Description
No. 35 on Broad Street is a former house and shop that is now used as a shop. This timber-framed building was altered in the early 18th century and again in the early 20th century. The front is rendered, with some stone at the rear, and it has a tiled roof. The building has an 'L' plan, is two windows wide, and is two stories tall with attics.
A half-glazed door, which is slightly off-centre to the right, leads to the street. On either side of the door are canted bays, with the main part featuring two-pane windows and a blind box above. The door is set back, and the first floor jetties out over the front of the bays. There are two sash windows, with weight-boxes flush with the front and thick glazing bars in the right-hand window. The building has a coved cornice and a gabled dormer with a two-light casement that is off-centre to the right, featuring lead cheeks. A brick chimney is located behind the ridge on the right side. At the rear, there is part of a stone gable shared with No. 33. Internally, the top beam of the old ground-floor front wall is still visible in the bay windows.
