Description
No 1 Culver Street is a former house that has been converted into a restaurant. It is possibly from the 17th century and underwent alterations in the early 19th century. The building features a rendered facade and a tiled roof. It has a three-window width facing the street and a long plan extending down the site. There is a plinth and a cut flat-headed opening to the cellar on the left side. The entrance consists of a six-panel front door that is accessed by two steps, with planted fielding on the upper panels and a flush design below. Above the door is a three-pane rectangular fanlight with a reeded surround. To the left, there is a three-light window, and to the right, a 16-pane window with a top quarter scuttle, both having a moulded surround. A plain rendered band runs along the first floor, which features two-light casement windows. A brick chimney projects from the left end, extending above the eaves. The right-hand ridge is the same height as that of the rear wing, while the left front is lower. The rear has a timber-framed roof that has been removed from the last bay, replaced by a flat roof at eaves level. The interior has not been inspected. This building is part of a group with other structures in Broad Street.
