Description
Nos. 18 and 19 The Green is a farmhouse that has been converted into two dwellings. It likely dates from the late 17th century and was extended in the mid-18th century. The building is constructed of limestone rubble with some timber framing and brick infill, topped with an old plain-tile roof featuring stone and brick stacks. Originally designed as a two-unit plan, it was later extended to three units and then formed an L-plan. The structure has one storey plus an attic.
The front of the building has two windows. On the left, there is the gable end of the earlier range, which features three-light small-pane casements set under wooden lintels. To the right, there is a tiled stone porch that shelters a heavy plank door, above which is a datestone inscribed with the year 1744. Further to the right, there is a three-light segmental-arched casement beneath a half dormer in a small brick gable. The roof includes a large stone and brick stack on the right gable, an inserted lateral stack on the left, a ridge stack on the earlier range, and a large brick chimney projection on the gable wall of the added timber-framed rear unit. Additionally, there is a continuous brick outshut to the right of the rear wing. The interior has not been inspected.
