Description
Hillside Farm Cottage is a house dating from the 15th century, which was altered and extended in the late 19th century. It features a timber frame that is exposed with plaster infill on the ground floor, which is constructed of red and blue brick. The roofs are plain tiled. The cottage is a hall house with three framed bays and a 19th-century rear wing. It has two storeys, with a jetty at the right end that returns to the rear right. The first floor has large panel tension-braced framing and a hipped roof with gablets and a cluster of stacks at the centre right. There are three unevenly sized two-light wooden casements on each floor, and a four-panel door located to the centre right. The right return showcases "Kentish framing" on the first floor, featuring tension braces and infilled mullioned windows. The 19th-century rear wing mimics the main range, with two wooden casements on each floor and a boarded door at the end right.
