Description
Tythe Cottage is a cottage that dates back to the early 16th century, was rebuilt in the early 17th century, and extended in the late 19th century. It features a timber frame of thin scantling at the front, with brick infill. The roof is plain tiled and hipped to the right, with an offset white hearthstone and brick stack at the left end and a front ridge stack on the right. The building has an L-shaped plan, originally serving as a hall house with two bays that remain, along with a 19th-century wing at the rear left. It stands two storeys high and has three framed bays, with four diamond-pattern metal casements across the first floor. There is a ground floor window to the right of centre, which is located under a tiled pentice roof. A leaded half-glazed door is positioned at the left end, sheltered by a pentice porch hood supported by brackets. An additional bay is set back at the right end. Inside, the timber frame is exposed, particularly on the ceilings.
