Description

The well head, located in the center of the forecourt to St Mary's Almshouses, was built in 1872 by Sir George Gilbert Scott as part of the almshouse group. It features a square stone wall approximately 2 feet high, with an open wooden canopy above. The canopy has a Tudor style arch on each side and is topped with a pyramidal roof covered in wooden shingles. Inside, the original wooden winding mechanism is still intact.
