Description

The Bastion is a viewing point built around 1840. It is constructed from sandstone blocks with ashlar dressings and features a D-shaped design with a balustrade. This structure serves as a connection between the garden terrace of Scotney Castle and the landscaped garden below, which contains the old castle. The gardens were designed and laid out by Edward Hussey, with guidance from William Sawrey Gilpin, who also recommended the current location for the new house.
