Description

The bridge over the River Bewl, located at TQ 6872 3495, dates from around 1840. It is constructed of sandstone and red brick, featuring a single brick arch that spans the stream, supported by stone embankment walls. The bridge has dressed stone parapet walls that are splayed in plan and topped with coping stones. This structure is part of Edward Hussey's enhancements to the park surrounding Scotney Castle.
