Description
Nos. 24 and 26 are a pair of houses built between 1790 and 1817, located on Albion Hill in Ramsgate. They are constructed of painted brick, with banded brick and flint on the return and rear walls, topped with a plain tiled roof. The buildings rise four storeys and include a basement, featuring a moulded cill band and a moulded parapet cornice. There are stacks located at the rear center.
Each house has three sash windows with moulded surrounds and cornices on the second and third floors, although the second-floor windows of No. 26 have been replaced with UPVC casements. On the first floor, No. 24 has two sashes and a central French window to the left, while No. 26 has three French windows to the right. No. 24 features a flat-roofed verandah to the left with iron twist rails, and No. 26 has a tented verandah to the right, adorned with oval spiders-web cast iron panels.
The ground and basement floors have canted bays with sash windows and pilaster frames on the ground floor. The entrance to No. 24 features a half-glazed door, while No. 26 has a door with six raised and fielded panels, both set in rustic surrounds. The properties are accessed by long flights of stairs with simple rails, and the basement areas are enclosed with spearhead rails and baluster finialled principals.
