Description
The National Westminster Bank is a bank building dating from around 1893, located on Harbour Parade in Ramsgate. It features an ashlar facing and a slate roof, designed in an Italianate style with a distinctive curving facade. The structure consists of three storeys and a basement, along with a four-storey tower. The basement is rusticated and blends into the slope of the site, while the ground floor is partly rusticated and includes pilasters on the first and second floors. The roof is adorned with a balustraded parapet and cornice-capped stacks.
Notable architectural features include canted two-storey oriel windows on the first and second floors, with sash windows alternating with three round-headed lights on the second floor and two wooden casements on the first and ground floors. The left side of the building features the tower, which has loggia-style upper storeys with a cornice and parapet, and includes double panelled doors set within a rusticated and moulded porch.
