Description
Lloyds Bank is a bank building dating from around 1875, designed in the Italianate style. It is constructed of ashlar with channel jointed rustication and features a hipped slate roof, moulded eaves cornice, and ashlar stacks. The building has three storeys and five bays. The central doorway has a square head and is set within a moulded stone architrave topped by a triangular pediment, which is decorated at the centre on scrolled stone brackets. An entablature above carries the raised letters spelling "Bank" on a decorated stone plaque. On either side of the doorway, there are two semi-circular headed windows with prominent keystones, and the sashes are set in moulded architraves with cornices on the first floor. Similar surrounds frame the openings above. Pilasters are positioned between each bay and on either side of the building. The bank is primarily included for its group value.
