Description
Barclays Bank is a bank building constructed in 1875. It features an ashlar facade and hammer-dressed stone on the sides, topped with a slate roof. The building has three storeys and a five-bay facade that is mostly symmetrical, except for the doorway located in the first bay. The design includes banded quoins, a plinth, a band, a moulded cornice, and a blocking course that rises to a pediment displaying the date of construction. Tall stacks are present on the gables.
On the ground floor, there are semi-circular arched windows with margin glazing, and a keystone formed by a console, which are separated by Tuscan Doric columns that support a continuous entablature, cornice, and blocking course. The first floor features sash windows with architraves and cornices, with the central window adorned with a pediment supported by consoles. The third floor has segmental arched windows, each with architraves.
