Description

Milestone located to the north of the canal bridge on Huddersfield Road in Brighouse, dating from the mid-19th century. It is made of a single cast iron sheet with an arch head, divided into three sections by T moulding. The top section reads: 'BRADFORD & HUDDERSFIELD ROAD BRIGHOUSE'. The left-hand section indicates 'BRADFORD 7 MILES', while the right-hand section states 'HUDDERSFIELD 4 MILES'. The milestone also bears the maker's name, BRAYSHAW & BOOTH, LIVERSEDGE.
