Description
This milestone, located near the junction with Leeds Road, dates from the mid-19th century. It is made of a single arch-headed stone that is overlaid with cast iron, featuring two projecting sides. The letters are in relief, with the top reading: 'BRADFORD & HUDDERSFIELD ROAD WIKE'. The left face indicates distances to Huddersfield (6 miles) and Brighouse (2 miles), while the right face shows the distance to Bradford (5 miles). This milestone was formerly part of the turnpike for the 'Wibsey Low Moor and Huddersfield Trust' and bears the maker's name of Brayshaw and Booth from Liversedge.
