Description
Ivy House, located on Lower Wyke Lane, was built around 1782 as a school during the expansion of the Moravian settlement. This two-storey building with an attic features irregularly coursed sandstone "brick" and flush quoins. The roof is made of stone slate and has prominent shaped kneelers at the gable ends, along with corniced chimneys. The entrance front is symmetrical with three windows and a central pediment that contains a plain Venetian window. The flanking windows on both the ground and first floors consist of three lights with square mullions, and there is a single light above the entrance, all set within squared surrounds. The doorway has plain squared jambs. At the rear, there are two and three light square mullion windows, along with a central stair light that features three superimposed mullion and transom windows.
