Description
This milestone, located opposite number 100 on Elland Road, dates from the mid 19th century. It features a single arch-headed stone that is covered with a cast iron sheet divided into three sections. The top section reads: 'ELLAND AND BRIGHOUSE ROAD, BRIGHOUSE.' The left section indicates 'ELLAND 2 ¾ MILES,' while the right section provides distances to Wakefield (13¾ miles), Dewsbury (8 miles), and Brighouse (¾ mile).
