Description

This milestone, located by the entrance to Elland New Hall, is a mid-19th century structure made of a single slab of stone with a cast iron head. The head features an arched shape and has triangular faces. The front reads: 'DEWSBURY AND ELLAND ROAD ELLAND'. The left side indicates distances to Wakefield (14 3/4 miles) and Dewsbury (9 miles), while the right side shows that Elland Town Hall is half a mile away.
