Description

This milestone, located 200 meters from Clough Mill towards Shelf, dates from the mid-19th century. It is made of a single stone slab that is overlaid with cast iron. The milestone features an arched head and two projecting sides. The top of the milestone reads: 'BRADFORD AND HALIFAX ROAD, SHELF'. The left face indicates 'BRADFORD 5 MILES', while the right face shows 'HALIFAX 3 MILES'.
