Description

This milestone, located approximately 30 meters northeast of the Six Arches Viaduct, dates from the early to mid-19th century. It features an arched stone structure that is overlaid with cast iron and is triangular in section. The letters on the milestone are in relief. The top of the milestone reads "LEEDS & ELLAND ROAD MORLEY." The left face indicates "MORLEY 1½ MILES," while the right face shows "LEEDS 3 MILES," "BIRSTALL 4 MILES," and "CLECKHEATON 6½ MILES." It also bears the maker's mark of Brayshaw of Booth and Liversedge.
