Description

Milestone located in front of No 55, Fairmead, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It features an arched stone structure overlaid with cast iron, shaped like a triangle in section. The letters are in relief, displaying the following inscriptions: "LEEDS & ELLAND ROAD MORLEY" on the front, and on the left and right faces, it reads "LEEDS MORLEY 4 MILES ½ MILE BIRSTAL 3 MILES CLECKHEATON 5½ MILES BRIGHOUSE 9 MILES." The milestone also bears the maker's name of Brayshaw and Booth from Liversedge.
