Description

Plane Trees Farmhouse, along with the attached Plane Trees Cottage and barn, is a Grade II listed building dating from the mid-17th century. It features hammer-dressed stone that is rendered, and a stone slate roof. The structure is two storeys high, designed with a hall and cross-wings, the left wing projecting to the front and rear, and a single aisle to the rear under a catslide roof.

The front has three gables and consists of three bays, each with double chamfered mullioned windows. The first bay contains a six-light window with a hoodmould and a ten-light mullioned and transomed window above. The second bay has a six-light window and a three-light fire window to the housebody, along with a ten-light mullioned and transomed window above. The main doorway, located at the junction of the first two bays, features monolithic jambs and a two-light window above. The third bay has a five-light window with a four-light window above it. A continuous hoodmould runs over the ground floor windows of the second and third bays.

Inside, the farmhouse retains panelled oak doors, stopped chamfered spine beams, and small oak wall cupboards. Above the staircase, there is a powder closet that retains a recess for wigs and a stone seat. The rear of the building has chamfered mullioned windows with square reveals, featuring three, five, and six lights, and three stacks.
