Description
This is a mid-17th century barn located to the west of Lower Field Bottoms Farmhouse. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone without mortar and features a stone slate roof. The barn has a continuous aisle to the west and a half aisle of two bays to the east. There is a square-headed cart entry with heavy-hung doors made of oak, which have been fitted with renewed softwood panels. The barn showcases fine post and truss construction, with five bays of a queen strut roof that has a ridge set diagonally. The gable includes arrow slit ventilators, and there are additional ventilators in all external walls.
