Description
This is a barn dating from the mid-17th century, located to the north of Rodwell End Farmhouse. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. The north front has quoins and a central cart entry with a straight lintel, jambs that include tie-stones, and a chamfered surround. To the left, there is a mistal doorway with a quoined lintel and a chamfered surround. The left-hand return wall has a broad gable with a central doorway featuring a heavy straight lintel and a chamfered surround, above which are broken-in pitching doors. An owl hole is present at the apex, with rectangular ventilators on either side and one semi-circular headed ventilator at ground level. The angles are quoined.
The south front has a segmental arched cart entry on skewbacks with composite jambs, which is now partly blocked. To the left, there is a two-light chamfered mullioned window that is missing its mullion. To the right, there is a mistal doorway with a quoined lintel and a chamfered surround. Inside, there is a doorway with a chamfered surround leading into a room that has a mullioned window. The barn consists of three bays, with posts featuring straight braces at the northern end and a queen strut roof. The trusses at the southern end are supported on the side walls of the portal, which extend back.
