Description
This is a barn located to the north of Lad Stones, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from well-coursed large dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. The barn has a plinth, quoins, and coped gables with kneelers. There are opposing depressed arched cart entries with joggled skewbacks and quoined jambs that form the portal. Mistal doorways at either end have chamfered surrounds. The north gable includes a large circular pitching hole at the apex, and the copings are moulded.
Inside, the barn consists of four bays, with three bays formed by large pointed stone arches extending from the portal walls to either side of the threshing floor. The third arch on the south side is solid and serves as a dividing wall to a cottage that was originally lit by a chamfered window in the east wall. There is a dressed stack at the ridge. The southern gable features two windows, with a similar one above for the cottage, and a large circular opening at the apex that has a central mullion.
