Description
Horsfall House is a two-storey house built in 1777, featuring watershot masonry with ashlar dressings and a stone slate roof. The building has a double pile layout under a single span roof, with rusticated quoins and a modillion cornice. The gables are coped and have dressed stacks. The left cell is larger than the right. The house showcases double chamfered mullioned windows, including a prominent 7-light window with a similar design above it. The classical doorcase has monolithic lugged jambs, a pulvinated frieze, and a triangular pediment, which includes a tympanum bearing the date. Above the door is a single light sashed window, and there is also a 4-light window with a similar design above it. The left return wall features a Venetian window at the apex. The house presents an interesting combination of vernacular 17th-century mullioned windows and some classical features from the 18th century.
