Description
New Laithe Barn is a 17th-century barn, initially marked with the date "1665 IB". It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. The barn has a double aisle with a cart entry framed by a portal in the aisle. A mistal doorway located in the re-entrant angle has a quoined lintel that displays the date, set within a tressure and surrounded by a chamfered edge, supported by wide monolithic jambs. This doorway leads into the aisle, which is illuminated by a four-light chamfered mullioned window. There is another doorway at the right-hand end of the barn.
Inside, the barn consists of three bays, featuring two triangular trusses with crossed principals that rest on stone posts. A 19th-century cottage attached to the north side is not considered of particular interest and is excluded from the listing.
