Description
This barn, located approximately 7 metres to the north-west of Upper Long Bottom Farmhouse, dates from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared watershot stone and features a stone slate roof. The barn is two storeys high and has four internal bays.
The front of the barn includes a central segmental-arched cart entry, which has tiestones, an impost, and a dropped keystone. Above this entry is a Venetian window with imposts and keystones, featuring an arched light with crown glass and glazing bars, flanked by keyed lunettes. To the far left at a lower level, there is a mistal doorway with a plain stone surround. A similar doorway is located at the right end, accompanied by a window on its left. The barn has plain gutter brackets on the table.
At the rear, there is an opposing cart entry that has been widened, with the original arch replaced by a steel joist around 1970. Above this entry, there is a Venetian window and lunettes similar to those at the front. Each return of the barn has a keyed lunette in the gable. Inside, the roof trusses feature queen posts, collars, and short king posts.
