SOWERBY BRIDGE Luddenden Foot BURNLEY ROAD (east side), Milepost set in wall opposite United Reformed Church

GV II Milepost. Early C19, stone with shaped top inscribed in capital letters 'TO/TODMORDEN 8 TO HALIFAX 3¾ and with traces of pointing hands. The Halifax to Todmorden and Burnley Turnpike Road Trust was created in 1760 (Hanson p 277).
