Description

This is a milepost set into a wall opposite the United Reformed Church in Luddenden Foot, Sowerby Bridge. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of stone with a shaped top. The milepost is inscribed in capital letters with directions reading 'TO TODMORDEN 8' and 'TO HALIFAX 3¾', and it features traces of pointing hands. The Halifax to Todmorden and Burnley Turnpike Road Trust was established in 1760.
