Description

The old milepost at the junction with Hollin Hall Lane is a Grade II listed stone guide stoop, dated 1738. It is a square stone post with a plinth that is inscribed on all four sides. Each direction is indicated by a carved hand. The inscriptions show distances to Halifax, Huddersfield, and Barnsley, noting 6 miles to Halifax, 6 miles to Huddersfield, and 1 or 2 miles to Barnsley, along with a reference to "Dew's Berry" and its distance.
