Description
A house, probably dating from the early 17th century, that has been extended to the rear and converted into three dwellings and later five cottages in the early to mid-19th century. The building is constructed of thin-coursed rubble, with rubble brought carefully into courses, and has a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high and originally three bays wide, with quoins. A doorway on the right has a chamfered surround and a two-piece Tudor-arched lintel. There is a 19th-century doorway to the right of the central bay. Windows in the two right-hand bays have double-chamfered mullions with hollow-mouldings and round-arched lights with sunk spandrels; the right bay features a six-light window to each floor, the central bay a four-light window to the ground floor and a five-light window above, and the left bay a blocked ground-floor window and a three-light chamfered mullion window above. Coping and crocketed finials adorn the gable ends. A corniced ridge stack sits between the two right-hand bays, with a later stack to the right gable. At the rear, two gables are visible, the right one extending over two bays. The left bay has a four-light, flat-faced mullion window to each floor. The central bay features a similar five-light window to each floor, with some mullions removed. The right bay has a four-light window to each floor, set within partial surrounds of double-chamfered mullion windows. A shaped kneeler is located on the right gable end, and a stack is set in the valley. On the right return, a four-light mullion window, now reduced to two lights, is visible on the first floor.
