Description
No. 22 Burnley Road is a house, likely built in the mid-17th century, with the first floor dating from the late 17th century. The building features rubble brought to course on the ground floor and coursed squared stone on the first floor, topped with a stone slate roof. It is two storeys tall and consists of a single cell, with a second bay added on the right around 1985, designed to be in keeping with the original structure.
The 17th-century cell has quoins, although the ground floor on the left side is no longer visible. On the right side, there is a 1985 door set in a chamfered quoined surround with a deep lintel. To the left of the door, there is a 5-light double-chamfered mullion window, both features located under a continuous drip-mould that rises above the doorway. The first floor has a 5-light single-chamfered mullion window. The left end has coping and a chimney stack added in 1985.
On the left return, there are table stones from a lower adjoining barn that has been removed. Inside, the house contains a shallow segmental-arched stone fireplace and a spine beam.
