Former Bethel Chapel for Methodist New Connection

The Former Bethel Chapel for Methodist New Connection, built around 1811, is located at No. 22 Bethel Street in Brighouse. This two-storey building is constructed from hammer-dressed stone with ashlar dressings and features a stone slate roof. The facade is symmetrical with three bays and has a secular character. Notable architectural details include a plinth, rusticated quoins, a frieze, and a cornice with a blocking course. The arched doorway has a rusticated surround and is topped by a heavy cornice supported by consoles. Flanking the doorway are two large sash windows, which are identical and feature architraves and prominent cornices; two of these windows still retain their glazing bars. The date of construction is referenced from D. Nortcliffe's "Buildings of Brighouse," published in 1978.
