Description
Swan Lane Barn at Swan Lane Farm is a barn dating from around 1550, with some modifications from the 19th century. It is timber-framed and has been refronted in weatherboarding on a brick base, topped with a slate roof. The barn features a central cart entrance with 19th-century double doors made of diagonal boards. To the north, there is a 19th-century lean-to with a through purlin roof. The barn consists of three bays and includes architectural details such as a mid-rail, curved braces, and jowled upright posts, with almost all jowled posts in the wall-frame still intact. The roof is a queenpost design, although one queenpost is missing. Additionally, a pair of curved windbraces can be found in the central bay. A ridgepiece was added in the 19th century, along with a floor at one end of the barn.
