Description
Grange Farm Barn is a barn dating from around 1600, with alterations made in the 18th century. It is a timber-framed structure built on an 18th-century brick plinth, covered in weatherboarding, some of which is tarred, and topped with a tiled roof. The barn consists of seven bays with an aisle on one side. It features gunstock jowled posts, tie beams with curved braces, and through purlins. An inserted ridgepiece is present, and the wall frame from the 18th century includes diagonal windbraces while re-using older timbers. There is a series of curved braces in the aisle, although three are missing. The barn has a central wagon entrance, and floors have been inserted at both ends.
