Description

Hewetts Farmhouse is a timber-framed building dating to the 16th and 17th centuries, constructed in a flattened 'N' shape. The west gable end exhibits exposed timber framing, along with a substantial external brick chimney stack. A pentice roof extends northwards from this wing. The south side of the east-west wing forms a right angle with a north-south wing; both angled sides are faced with clunch. A casement window is positioned above and below on the south side of the east-west wing, each with a segmental relieving arch. A half-glazed door is present, alongside a Sun Insurance Policy plaque. On the west side of the north-south wing, three casement windows are situated above and below, the lower ones also featuring segmental relieving arches. Elsewhere, the building is brick-clad with irregular bricks. The roof has a half-hip at its east end. The internal timber-framed structure remains largely unaltered, although the roof has not been inspected. A large four-centred fireplace is located at the north end of the north-south wing.
