Description
Runfold House is an early 19th-century building that has been altered from its original early 18th-century structure. It is two storeys high and features a road front made of yellow stock brick, with a string course at the first-floor level. The house has flat eaves supported by pairs of cut brackets and a hipped roof covered with old tiles, which has flanking chimneys.
On the first floor, there are three windows, while on the ground floor to the left, there is one round window, all featuring segmental heads and architrave frames but lacking glazing bars. To the right on the ground floor is a rectangular bay window, and in the center, there is a four-panel door with a plain rectangular fanlight from the 19th century. This door is framed by panelled Doric pilasters and console brackets, topped with a narrow cornice and pediment. The remainder of the house is constructed from red brick.
Runfold House is listed for its group value, as it contributes to a group with other listed buildings in St George, including the outbuildings to the west of Bridge Farm and those to the north and west of Runfold House.
