Description

This early 17th-century house, divided into a shop and a cottage, is located on The Street in Tongham. The building is timber-framed, with the frame exposed on the street front and covered with rendered cladding incorporating herringbone brick infill above. The right-hand return front has roughcast cladding, and the roofs are tiled, half-hipped, and step down towards the street range. A gable end fronts the street, with a central ridge stack and a rear stack behind.

The street front has two storeys. It features a casement window on the first floor, a shop window on the ground floor to the right, and a half-glazed door to the left of centre. A further casement window and pentice roof extension are located to the left. The right-hand return front has one storey and an attic to the left, with a gabled casement dormer. There are two ground floor windows on the left, with a casement window on each floor to the right. A door is located to the left, within a pentice roof porch.
