The Albion Hotel

The Albion Hotel, built around 1841, is located on the west side of Main Road in Edenbridge, adjacent to the South Eastern Railway Station. This building exemplifies the commercial Palladian style typical of early railway development. It features a stucco facade with three storeys and a symmetrical elevation. The ground floor has a base that imitates stone courses, supporting flat pilasters that extend up two storeys. These are topped with a cornice adorned with heavy square modillions and a parapet that conceals the gutter and the Welsh slate roof. The hotel has tripartite sash windows that are symmetrically arranged, with single sash windows above the central door. The central entrance has a small modern half-glazed door, while the left window has been altered to serve as a door. The first-floor windows are enhanced with console bracketed cornices.
