Description
The Queen Hotel is a hotel built around 1840, located opposite the railway station in Todmorden, which it was formerly connected to by a footbridge, remnants of which can be seen above the entrance door. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and has a slate roof, featuring two storeys. Its design follows the road alignment with a curving facade. There is a plinth and a decorative band. Each floor has five bays of large sash windows, each with 12 panes. The entrance doorway, located between the second and third bays, has a wooden surround with a cornice. There is also an original door entry, now blocked, situated between the fourth and fifth bays, which features an architrave, cornice, and consoles. The building has two chimney stacks. The rear side has six bays of sash windows and three storeys. The third, fourth, and fifth bays project forward and are highlighted by a large triple window with a semi-circular head for the center light, all of which are sash windows. The rear also has three chimney stacks and a hipped roof.
