Description

The Endowed School is a former school building, now unoccupied, founded in 1713 by Rev. Richard Clegg, Vicar of Kirkham. It features an inscribed stone that reads 'Endowed 1713 Rebuilt 1851'. The building is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and has a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high and has two bays. There is a doorway on the ground floor to the right and another on the first floor to the left, both with basket arched lintels and deeply chamfered surrounds. The building also has two bays of tall three-light chamfered mullioned windows, and a two-light window above the right door with an inscribed stone between.
