Description

Apricot Barn is a barn dating from around 1600. It features a timber frame built on a brick base, with weatherboarding and some rendered areas. The barn has a steeply pitched roof made of corrugated sheets and consists of five bays. The central bay is open, with loft doors on either side.

Inside, the barn has close studding with a midrail, arched braces that are halved outside the studs in the end walls, and jowled posts with cranked arched braces. Many of these braces have been replaced by knees to the tie beams. The roof includes double butt purlins with upper arched windbraces and cambered collars to the principal rafters.
