Description
Micheldever House is a former vicarage now serving as a private residence, built in the early 19th century. The structure is made of brick and stucco with incised lines, topped with a slated roof. It is a square building with early 20th century additions at the rear. The front features two stories and three bays, with slightly projecting flanking bays on either side of the central bay, which has a 19th-century door beneath a timber latticed verandah with a lead tented roof. The wings have long 12-pane sash windows, while the upper section contains three 9-pane sash windows. The roof is hipped and low-pitched, with projecting eaves and lead ridges. To the left of the house, there is a large yew hedge accompanied by two large holly bushes, which provide screening for the garden front. The interior is primarily early 19th century, with an altered hall, but it retains a staircase from that period featuring barley sugar balustrades, a plain handrail, a cast iron newel, dado panelling, and a pointed Gothick tall stairlight.
